What is IVF?
IVF (in vitro fertilisation) is the most common and well-known fertility treatment. Eggs are collected and fertilised with sperm in a laboratory, and the resulting embryo is transferred to the womb.
A standard IVF cycle involves ovarian stimulation with hormone injections (typically 10–14 days), egg collection under sedation, fertilisation in the lab, embryo culture for 3–5 days, and embryo transfer. The whole process takes around 4–6 weeks per cycle.
Who is IVF for?
IVF is recommended for unexplained infertility, blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, low sperm count or motility, and patients who haven't conceived through less invasive methods like IUI.
